Deputy Registrar of Ships
Purpose of Position
This position assists the Registrar to fulfil statutory responsibilities for the maintenance of the Register of Ships and management of the Shipping Registration Office.
Prerequisites
- Working knowledge of information management systems.
Responsibilities
- Discharge the duties of the Deputy Registrar, including:
- authorising entries in the Register of Ships and certifying associated documents extracted from the Register;
- manage correspondence between the Shipping Registration Office and its external clients;
- manage the collection of fees and the associated statements and returns; and
- oversee the records management procedures and practices to ensure that they comply with statutory requirements.
- Contribute to the ongoing development and management of the database containing the Register.
- Undertake tasks associated with the general administration of the Shipping Registration Office and special project work as required
- Liaise with clients, stakeholders and other government agencies
- Supervise and train staff.
