Wreckage of missing aircraft located
The wreckage believed to be of a missing metroliner flying from Bamaga to Lockhart River has been located. The aircraft was reported overdue at approximately 12 noon (AEST) today.
Australian Search and Rescue coordinated a search involving four fixed-wing aircraft and two helicopters along the lodged flight path. Wreckage from the plane was located at approximately 4.30 pm (AEST) 11 kilometres North West of Lockhart River.
Coordination of the incident is now with Queensland Police.
