Australian search and rescue seek public assistance in search for missing aircraft in Queensland

The Rescue Coordination Centre – Australia (RCC) is seeking public assistance in locating an aircraft missing between Ingham and Tully in Queensland.

The aircraft is described as an 8 seater Fletcher, white in colour with two blue horizontal stripes along the fuselage.

It is understood that the aircraft only has a pilot on board.  The plane was last seen in Ingham at approximately 3.00pm yesterday and was due to arrive in Tully at approximately 4.00pm, but failed to do so.

Due to inclement weather and heavy cloud cover it is anticipated that the pilot would have either tracked between Halifax on the Eastern Side of Hinchinbrook Island or via the Cardwell Channell following the road to reach Tully.

Anyone who has any information about the aircraft or may have seen it yesterday or today are asked to contact the RCC in Canberra on 1800 815 257 as soon as possible.
