Man and dog rescued in Shark Bay, WA

A man and his dog were rescued yesterday afternoon after being found sitting on the hull of their upturned yacht in Shark Bay, Western Australia.

Australian Search and Rescue received a satellite distress beacon alert at about 2.15 pm (WST) yesterday and dispatched a fixed wing aircraft from Shark Bay to investigate the signal.

The aircraft located the man and his dog sitting on the hull of their upturned yacht in rough seas at about 3.05pm (WST) about 5 nautical miles (9.2 kms) west of Denham.

A Volunteer Marine Rescue boat from Denham picked up the man and his dog at around 5.15 pm (WST).
