Gulf of Carpentaria search finds two men

Two men in a 4.2 metre dinghy who had been missing since Saturday night were found this afternoon at 12.45 pm (AEST) near the South Mitchell River in the Gulf of Carpentaria.

The men, who were last seen near the Staaten River at about 7.45pm (AEST) on Saturday 2 March, were located 35 nautical miles north of their intended destination at Nassau River.

Both were uninjured.

Two surface vessels, a helicopter and two fixed wing aircraft were involved in today’s search.
