Overdue helicopter found in WA

A small mustering helicopter with two men on board missing overnight in the Fitzroy River region of West Australia has been located.

The two employees from Roebuck Plains station near Broome on a flight to Fitzroy Crossing landed on remote Mount Anderson station about 90 nm (166km) east of Broome yesterday afternoon but could not restart their helicopter due to electrical problems.

Australian Search and Rescue coordinated a fixed wing aircraft flight into the area overnight and a campfire was sighted.

While aircraft were being prepared for searching this morning, the two missing men managed to get a radio call out advising position and requesting assistance.

The Robinson 22 helicopter and crew will be recovered this morning by Roebuck Plains station management.
