Search for missing dory fisherman

Australian Search and Rescue (AusSAR) is continuing to coordinate a search for a missing 49-year-old fisherman in the Great Barrier Reef.

Six fixed wing aircraft and a helicopter are involved in today’s search for the man who was last seen on Saturday afternoon about 40 nautical miles east of Cape Grenville, Queensland.

The man’s upturned dory boat was located about 60 nautical miles north of Lockhart River, Queensland yesterday morning.

The weather in the search area today is poor with 25 knot winds and three metre seas.

Gayndah gyrocopter search

Coordination of the search for a missing gyrocopter pilot near Gayndah has been passed to the Queensland Police after the pilot’s badly damaged helmet and wreckage from the aircraft was located yesterday.
