Search for two missing men: Torres Strait

Australian Search and Rescue will coordinate an aerial search this afternoon for two men who failed to return last night from a fishing trip north west of Badu Island in the Torres Strait.

The two men were fishing from a punt about one nautical mile north west of Badu Island.

Seven aircraft will search this afternoon for the two men over a 1200 nautical mile area.

AusSAR is coordinating the aerial search on behalf of the Thursday Island Water Police who have overall control of the operation.

The weather in the search area is moderate with 20 knot winds and choppy seas.
