Torres Strait search: two found
Two men who failed to return from a fishing trip in the Torres Strait last night have been found safe and well this afternoon.
The men were found drifting in their punt about 22 nautical miles north west of Badu Island.
They were winched to safety by a rescue helicopter at about 4pm (AEST) and flown to Badu Island.
Seven aircraft searched for the men over a 1200 square nautical mile area.
Australian Search and Rescue was coordinating the aerial search on behalf of the Thursday Island Water Police.
