Automated Data Inquiry for Oil Spills (ADIOS) Weathering Model

Data Required to run ADIOS Oil Weather Model

To utilise the software Automated Data Inquiry for Oil Spills (ADIOS) to assess the changes spilled oil undergoes during weathering the following information is required.

Crude oil name/fuel product type

(there are approximately 100 oils are in the data base)(if the oil is not known, supply physical properties information in pro forma)

Amount of oil spilled?
(tonnes, bbl, cu m, gal)

Is the spill an instantaneous or continuous spill ?

instantaneous continuous

If continuous over how many hours, days?

hours days

actual/predicted wind speed (constant - km/hr, knots, m/s)

(if time dependent then times and wind speed prediction:)

wave heights
(constant feet, metres)

(if time dependent then times and wave height:)

water temperature (degree C)

water salinity (ppt, gm/kg) or water density (g/cc)

emulsification constant (if known)

Select which OF three typeS of model outputs required

(1) - Time dependent graphs of;
  • viscosity
  • density
  • water content
  • evaporation
  • natural dispersion

(2) Oil budget graph

  • pie chart at selected time intervals

(3) Oil budget table

  • listing of oil mass budget in tabulation form
