Application Forms
Below is an index of Forms required for updating or applying for a Marine Qualification. To access a form, simply click on the desired title and follow the instructions given.
Applicants are referred to the Guidance Notes regarding AMSA requirements that are contained within form AMSA 63 or AMSA 107.
Applicants are reminded when applying for an assessment of eligibility for issue of an Australian certificate of competency, applicants must submit original letter(s) from the shipping company, written on company letterhead paper, verifying the qualifying sea service (Marine Orders Part 3, provision 7.2).
Please allow at least 20 working days for a Certificate to be issued. You are reminded that if the application is missing information, incorrectly completed or the required supporting documentation has not been submitted, there will be a delay in processing and issuing the Certificate.

Fees
AMSA provides a range of services to individuals relating to Marine Qualifications. Charges are applied for all of these services, and these are set at a level aimed at recovering the cost of providing each of the services in question.
The applicable fee for the service is payable either prior to or on the day the applicant submits the application.
Applicants have the following options for payment of the applicable fee:
- Bank draft in Australian dollars drawn on an Australian bank and made payable to the Australian Maritime Safety Authority;
- Australian cheque or money order made payable to the Australian Maritime Safety Authority;
- Credit Card - Mastercard or VISA (AMSA does not accept AMEX or Diners credit cards) refer to AMSA form 161;
- Cash (Only for payment when an application is personally lodged at an AMSA office. Cash is NOT to be sent with postal applications).
The charges currently applicable for each of these services (based on the average processing time by AMSA's Examiners when providing each of these services or on the production costs of certificates and licences) are as follows:

Unless otherwise stated the charges for the above services are exempt from the Goods and Services Tax (GST).
These charges are authorised by AMSA's Determination fixing Charges, No.1 of 2001, issued under Section 47(1) of the Australian Maritime Safety Authority Act 1990.
