Who are the Members of the AMSA Seafarers' Welfare Advisory Committee?
Membership on the Committee shows the breadth of the commitment to seafarer welfare from a wide spectrum of the industry: Apostleship of the Sea, Mission to Seafarers, Australian Shipowners Association, Ports Australia, Shipping Australia, International Transport Workers’ Federation, Australian Mariners Welfare Society, Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations and AMSA.
What does the AMSA Seafarers' Welfare Advisory Committee do?
- We encourage, coordinate and support the development of port welfare committees
- We maintain a database of information for and about Port Welfare Committees and other stakeholders engaged in seafarer welfare.
- We promote communication and networking between stakeholders.
- We facilitate better resources and support services to mariners through national channels.
- We open channels of communication aimed at facilitating the effective implementation of the Maritime Labour Convention 2006.
- We raise awareness of the risks affecting seafarer welfare.
- We provide data collection, co-ordination, analysis and dissemination of information nationally.
