What happens when a report is made to the Inspectorate
As the Inspectorate, AMSA assess Incident Alerts and Reports and decides what further action is required.
Further action may involve:
- Notifying the Regional Manager that an investigation is required
- Contacting the shipping company to identify what internal actions have been undertaken, and in particular the preventative strategies that have been put in place
- Assessing the need for a Marine Notice or other alert regarding the type of incident
- Liaising with the OH&S Representatives regarding investigation, prevention strategies and/or the need for an industry wide audit.
