OH&S(MI)Act
Under the Act operators have primary responsibility to provide a safe workplace for both employees and contractors.
Operators must:
- take all reasonable steps to ensure the health, safety and welfare of employees and contractors,
- provide and maintain safe working environments, including safe plant and systems of work,
- provide safe access to and from the workplace,
- ensure employees' and contractors' safety at work in the use, handling and storage of plant or substances,
- provide employees and contractors with information, instruction, training and supervision to enable them to work safely, and
- take appropriate action to monitor employees, health and safety, maintain records relating to employees' health and safety and provide appropriate medical and first aid services for employees.
