Role of the OH&S (MI) Act Inspectorate

As the inspectorate AMSA's role is to:

Ensure that the OHS(MI) Act and its regulations are complied with.
Advise operators, employees or contractors on occupational health and safety matters.
Provide relevant information to the Seacare Authority (including statistics on the nature and number of incidents and investigations).

AMSA works with the Seacare Authority and the maritime industry to improve awareness of OH&S issues on ships and to encourage a safety culture aimed at preventing death or injury in the maritime workplace.
