Indonesian Search and Rescue Authority Delegation visits AMSA
10 March 2010The AMSA Search and Rescue School, on behalf of the Indonesian Transport Safety Assistance Package, is currently hosting a delegation from the Indonesian Search and Rescue Authority, BASARNAS (Badan SAR Nasional). The delegation is led by First Air Marshal Pak Tedy Sutedjo, with Pak Didi Hamzar, Pak M. Barokna Haulah, and Pak Budi Utomo accompanying. During their visit, the delegates will receive briefings from AMSA personnel prior to visiting Melbourne where they will visit the Victorian Water Police and Aero Rescue and Sydney where they will call on the Sydney Water Police and the Sydney Volunteer Marine Rescue Unit. The aim of the activity is to expose senior BASARNAS Officers to the Australian search and rescue (SAR) system, with particular emphasis on assets, planning and the various Memorandums of Understanding between AMSA and Australian states and territories. A further two BASARNAS officers, namely Mr Yopi Haryadi and Mr F. Hermanto da Gomez, will remain in Australia for an additional two weeks on an attachment to the Rescue Coordination Centre with a view of gaining a broad knowledge of the country’s SAR systems and procedures for further comparison with the Indonesian SAR system. This visit will ensure that the excellent relationship between BASARNAS and AMSA is further strengthened.
