Natship09 - Australia's sixth National Shipping Industry Conference is convened by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority in association with the Australian Shipowners Association, Ports Australia, Shipping Australia Limited and the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government.

 

  AMSA is a Commonwealth Government regulatory agency committed to continuous improvement in provision of its safety, environmental protection and search and rescue services. AMSA encourages constructive relationships with its stakeholders in government, industry and the community.
     
   
 

ASA’s vision is for Australia to be a centre of excellence in the provision of maritime transport capability.


Our mission is to promote sustainable shipping and internationally competitive sea transport services for the benefit of Australia.


Our role is to be the focal point for information and research on our sector in Australia; be the linkage between the sector and government; be the Australian voice in the international shipowning community; provide innovative solutions to secure the maritime skills base and protect the environment; and be at the forefront of establishing training initiatives for the seagoing sector.

     
   
 

Ports Australia is the peak body representing the interests of ports and marine authorities in Australia. Formerly known as the Association of Australian Ports and Marine Authorities, Ports Australia’s mission is to provide leadership and support in areas of common interest related to ports, their interfaces and the achievement of their trade facilitation objectives.

     
     
 

The major focus of Shipping Australia, as a peak industry body, is both to promote and advance the interest of ship owners and shipping agents in all matters of shipping policy and safe environmentally sustainable ship operations.


Shipping Australia’s members cover many of the major Australian and international ship owners, operators and agency companies involved in bulk, tanker, general cargo shipping, container, passenger and tramp trades.

     
     
 

The Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government contributes to the wellbeing of all Australians by assisting the Government to promote, evaluate, plan and invest in infrastructure; fostering an efficient, sustainable, competitive, safe and secure transport system; and assisting regions and local government to develop and manage their futures.

The Department provides policy advice, programs and regulation across a wide range of areas including:
