The Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre is recognised
as one of the leading convention centres in the world
and boasts a committed and professional staff and services
of the highest standard.
Being situated in the heart of Brisbane’s
convention, cultural and leisure precinct, delegates
will experience
an environment that provides for a variety of experiences
unique to a resort style city centre. They will
range from sun baking or swimming at the city beach,
cycling
along the meandering Brisbane River, exploring
one of the world’s largest collections of Aboriginal and
Asian art, relaxing in fine restaurants and alfresco
cafes, sophisticated and stylish shopping in the many
nearby boutiques and specialty shops or the fun and festive
street markets.
The Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre has
a warmth and welcoming ambience quite unlike other centres.
You can feel the difference from the moment you walk
through the Centre’s striking Main Foyer (with
its distinctive terrazzo floor) and you are greeted by
our friendly Reception Desk staff.
Natural daylight is used throughout the building to
create an open, spacious, relaxed and creative environment.
This is complemented by the use of natural timber finishing
and surrounded by one of the most significant collections
of indigenous paintings in Australia, and other works
by local artists.
Delegates and other visitors can meet in relaxed comfort
and enjoy the five-star facilities.
Business Services Centre
The Centre offers a fully equipped and professional
business services centre for all its clients
needs.

Centre. Please ensure your dietary requirements
are included on the enclosed Registration Form.
The City of Brisbane

Queensland’s capital, Brisbane, is the third largest
city in Australia, with a greater metropolitan population
of just under two million. Set close to the Pacific Ocean,
Brisbane city centre is situated in the southeast corner
of Queensland, on plains between Moreton Bay and the
Great Dividing Range.
At a latitude and longitude of 27°28'S, 153°02'E,
the city straddles the Brisbane River. The greater
Brisbane region lies on the coastal plain east of the
Great Dividing
Range, although the urban area is dotted by large
hills reaching up to 300 metres such as Mount Coot-tha,
Mount
Gravatt, Whites Hill and Stephens Mountain.
Climate
Brisbane has a humid subtropical climate with hot,
humid summers (December to February) and dry, mild
winters (June to August). From late Spring through
to early Autumn,
thunderstorms are common over the greater Brisbane
area. Average December temperatures in Brisbane range
from
20°C to 30°C.
Presently Brisbane and surrounding areas are experiencing
the most severe drought in over 100 years, as supplying
dam levels have dropped below one quarter capacity. As
a result, residents are mandated by local laws to observe
strict water restrictions on gardening and other outdoor
water usage.
Arts and Culture
Brisbane has a thriving live music scene, as
well as museums and theatres, performing arts and
creative
arts within the city and suburbs. It is the birthplace
of internationally acclaimed singers, music bands,
authors, actors, artists, sculptors and fashion designers.
There
are also popular entertainment pubs and clubs
within both the City and Fortitude Valley - as well
as theatres
and museums which are located within the city,
South Bank, the South Bank Parklands and Brisbane
suburbs.
Shopping
Brisbane has many shopping
centres. The Queen Street Mall has restaurants, souvenirs
and shopping
centres,
including: Wintergarden, Broadway on the Mall,
Queens Plaza, Brisbane Arcade and The Myer
Centre. The majority
of consumer commerce is generally done within
the suburbs of Brisbane, via shopping centre
hubs which include
major departments chains. There are 4 major shopping
centres in Brisbane located in the suburbs of
Chermside, Indooroopilly, Mt Gravatt and Carindale.
Smaller, yet
significant shopping centres are also littered
around the other suburbs of the city.
