The aim of the committee is to provide a consultation forum between AMSA and Class 1 and 2 operators and boat builders for vessel safety and operational matters.

The meeting was chaired by AMSA Chief Executive Officer Mick Kinley and co-chaired by Rob Mitchell, Operations Manager at Transit Systems. The agenda allowed AMSA the opportunity to inform members of regulatory activity related to the National System, while committee members provided updates about their local industry and discussed relevant regulations.

Advisory groups play a critical part in developing new and amended standards, and it assists the consultation process significantly if proposals are tested on a small group of industry representatives. The biannual meetings will play a key role in the relevance of safety standards and regulations that aim to address risks associated with passenger and trading vessel operations.
