Why report an incident
Wednesday 17 August 2022
Providing detailed descriptions of a marine incident, including context and how it is being managed, will help us understand the risks, and influence our response to the situation.
Incident reporting helps us:
- Have an informed picture of the risks affecting the industry and in turn allows us to respond to poorly detected risks.
- Build an accurate and reliable database to help guide our future education and compliance activities.
- Provide insights and trends to ensure safety policies and campaigns can be developed effectively to assist the industry.
- Provide us and industry with assurance that safety culture is improving.
By reporting, you are also meeting your reporting obligation under the National Law and/or the Navigation Act.
Don’t ignore it, report it. Read more.
