Sadly, there were no survivors on board the helicopter, which departed Breeza, south-west of Tamworth on Saturday evening.
One of ten search helicopters located the wreckage, south of Cessnock, in the Watagans National Park, on Monday evening.
A paramedic from another helicopter involved in the search was winched down and confirmed the wreckage was from the Eurocopter.
AMSA was informed on Monday morning that the twin engine helicopter had failed to arrive at its destination, in Northern Sydney.
AMSA’s search and rescue Dornier 328 aircraft and ten helicopters were involved in the search on Monday.
The search area was narrowed to the area where the wreckage was found following information provided by Airservices Australia.
Weather conditions in the area were severe in the Hunter region on Saturday, with localised thunderstorms and rain.
The crash site is in mountainous terrain, covered with dense vegetation.
No mayday call or emergency beacon distress signal associated with the helicopter was detected.
