MARINE NOTICE 8/2011
New and Revised Charges for Marine Services and Ship Registration
The purpose of this Marine Notice is to advise shipowners, operators, seafarers, and other sectors of the maritime industry of the revised charges for providing various types of services to the shipping industry.
The Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) operates on the basis of full recovery of its costs and, in accordance with the Australian Government Cost Recovery Policy, reviews from time to time its cost structure and the consequent charges for providing them. The effect of the review is that there will be a change in the cost structure resulting in new and/or revised charges for the services provided by AMSA, warranting amendment to the existing cost recovery arrangements.
After full consultation of the draft Cost Recovery Impact Statement (CRIS), a final CRIS incorporating the comments received from the Australian maritime industry resulted in a new fee determination being made by the Hon Anthony Albanese MP, Minister for Infrastructure and Transport.
The new fee structure will take effect from 4 July 2011, details of the CRIS and fee structure may be found on the AMSA website at: www.amsa.gov.au/Levies_and_fees/
Fees paid prior to 4 July 2011 for services to seafarers (examination & assessment, certificates for seafarers) will be accepted for services provided up to and including 31 December 2011.
