Memorandum of understanding with Australian Antarctic Division

We have a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Australian Antarctic Division.

Our MOU with the Australian Antarctic Division (AAD) covers search and rescue coordination in the Antarctic Region. It was signed in Tasmania on 23 April 2008.

The MOU formalises our relationship with the AAD which had developed since 2003. It includes operational procedures, communications arrangements and respects the expertise of both agencies' search and rescue abilities in this challenging part of the world. AMSA Search and Rescue has expertise in search and rescue coordination, and the AAD has expertise in operating in the Antarctic environment, and knowledge of operational resources in Antarctica.

Our former Chief Executive Officer, Mr Graham Peachey and AAD Director, Mr Tony Press signed the MOU at the AAD Headquarters in Kingston, Tasmania on 23 April 2008.
