Application for an assessment of overseas STCW certificates for the purpose of a migration application

Overview 

You can use this form to assess your overseas STCW certificates for the purpose of migration applications.

Eligibility criteria 

The Australian Government introduced reforms for skilled migration on 1 July 2017. More recently, the Department of Home Affairs has made changes to the lists of eligible skilled occupations.

A successful migration skills assessment does not guarantee that you will be issued with a working visa by the Department of Home Affairs, nor does it guarantee you employment on an Australian registered vessel.

Submitting the form 

Please forward the completed application AMSA Form 12 by mail and include:

1.    The application AMSA Form 12

2.    Original shipping company letters testifying sea service

3.    Certified true copies of supporting documents

4.    Payment of fee

The required fee is on the schedule of charges.

Once AMSA has received a complete application and all requirements are met please allow 3 months for your application to be assessed.
