Four rescued after yacht grounding on South Australian reef

The Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) has coordinated the rescue of four people who abandoned a yacht after it grounded north of Beachport, South Australia.

The four survivors were on board a yacht on a delivery voyage from Adelaide to Sydney.

The group activated a personal locator beacon which was detected by AMSA Search and Rescue about 1.15am on Sunday.

Bad weather prevented any aerial and surface assets being tasked.

The survivors’ life raft was located by State Emergency Service personnel on the beach, who found them nearby the raft at 6.45am (AEST).

They were taken to Beachport for medical assessment but did not have any serious injuries.
