Have your say—proposed changes to domestic commercial vessel seafarer certificates

Monday 16 September 2019
We want your feedback on proposed changes to safety and emergency arrangements.

The consultation closed on Sunday 29 September 2019.

Marine Order 505 (Certificates of competency - national law) 2013 and Part D of the National Standard for Commercial Vessels are the requirements we use to issue domestic certificates of competency. We are aware that the structure of the legislation, regulations and standards is difficult to understand.

The proposed new marine order 505 aims to simplify the information for domestic commercial vessel certificates and qualifications so they are easier to read, use and apply.

Following the consultation period, it is proposed that amendments to marine order 505 will come into effect on 1 July 2020.
