AMSA recognises the challenges faced by smaller operators in implementing some parts of the safety management system requirements as they are currently written under the Marine Safety (Domestic Commercial Vessel) National Law Act 2012.
These requirements can seem complicated and possibly impractical for some small vessel operators trying to work through documents more suited to larger and more complex operations.
Owners and operators of small commercial vessels have unique and practical experience gained over many years of working on the water, which AMSA values.
Below is a link to a survey which will help shape a future, simplified approach to safety management for small commercial vessel operators under the National Law.
Owners and operators of small commercial vessels are encouraged to share their invaluable experience, and in doing so, influence how safety is managed by industry and regulated by AMSA.
