Working Boats issue 18—Innovation and resourcefulness

Tuesday 28 January 2020
Working Boats is a quarterly magazine about Australia's commercial maritime industry.
working boats issue 18

This edition of Working Boats looks at some of the innovation and resourcefulness shaping industry.

We look at AMSA's work to ensure emerging autonomous and remotely controlled vessels in Australia can operate safely. We also feature Paradigm Training's use of technology in training and assessment; talk to Steber International about their evolution over the years; and follow the build, delivery and maiden voyage of three new transfer vessels commissioned to boost tourism to Norfolk Island.

Innovation can be as simple as a new approach using existing resources. Mike Keyte's approach to increasing safety starting with crew induction is a great example.

Lindsey Lankester shares his amazing story of survival; and AMSA Medical Advisor Dr Paul Luckin talks to us about how an individual's inner resourcefulness can make a difference to their chances of survival.
