Today, September 27, is World Maritime Day and this year's theme is IMO 70: Our Heritage-Better Shipping for a Better Future.
It has been 70 years since the IMO Convention was first adopted and Australia has been a member state since the beginning. As Australia's representative at the IMO AMSA is proud to contribute to the IMO's mission-to promote safe, secure, environmentally sound, efficient and sustainable shipping.
Australia is reliant on shipping for our economic prosperity, and as a country, with some of the most sensitive marine environments on the planet, we must ensure that it remains safe and reliable into the future.
AMSA wishes everyone in the maritime industry a happy World Maritime Day 2018.
