You can use this form if you need to make a complaint about breaches against the Maritime Labour Convention 2006 (MLC) and the living and working conditions on a regulated Australian vessel or a foreign-flagged vessel in Australian waters.
Seafarers are encouraged to use their ship’s onboard complaint procedures to resolve complaints. The vessel must have an onboard complaint procedure for seafarers to make a complaint without fear of recourse (Division 18 of the Marine Order 11 [1] (Living and working conditions on vessel) 2015).
However, in the event it is unable to be resolved onboard, seafarers may make a complaint to the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) and we will investigate the complaint. Please refer to the onboard and onshore complaints resolution [2] process for more information.
Every effort is made to ensure the details of the source of the complaint is not revealed during any enquiries.
For safety-related complaints you may use the Marine Safety Concern online form [3] or the Australian Transport Safety Bureau Confidential Reporting Scheme, REPCON [4].
If you have difficulty submitting this form online, you can print it and fax the completed form to: 02 6279 5940. This number is checked only during normal business hours. See our contact numbers for other options.
