Vice Chief of the Defence Force visits AMSA

On 16 October the Vice Chief of the Defence Force Vice Admiral Ray Griggs AO, CSC visited AMSA.

Vice Admiral Griggs met with AMSA Chief Executive Officer Mick Kinley and General Manager Emergency Response Division John Young. Discussions covered a number of issues including e-navigation, employment and value of Defence reservists, hydrography within the Australasian area, interaction between AMSA and Border Protection Command/Defence, and the search for Malaysia Airlines flight MH370.

Following these discussions, Vice Admiral Griggs and John Young visited the Emergency Response Division where the duty chief, Andrew Burden, provided an operational overview of search and rescue processes including AMSA’s interaction with external departments (national and international) during major incidents such as MH370.
