Become a training assessor or provider for Exemption 38

You can provide seafarers with the skills to operate a vessel up to 12 metres long.

Exemption 38—Marine Safety (Low complexity duties) Exemption 2017 (No. 2) allows seafarers to perform a range of low complexity duties during daylight hours on a vessel up to 12 metres long.

Exemption 38 training provider

An Exemption 38 training provider allows your registered training organisation to deliver the Exemption 38 course to seafarers.

How to apply

You will need to fill out Miscellaneous form 758 and explain in part B that you would like to become a trainer assessor. Attach any supporting documents and send the paperwork to our postal, courier address or scan it and email us:

Exemption 38 trainer assessor 

A trainer assessor is a person who can teach the Exemption 38 course and works for an Exemption 38 training provider.

How to apply

To become a trainer assessor your Exemption 38 training provider must apply on your behalf.

You will need to fill out Application for approved trainer assessor form 735. Attach any supporting documents and send the paperwork to our postal, courier address or scan it and email us:
