Schedule of charges

A summary of charges you may have to pay to obtain your qualifications.

We provide a range of services which broadly fall into two categories: marine services and shipping registration. Marine services relate to approvals, certificates, licences, inspections, determinations and exemptions required by the legislation and related regulations or marine orders that we administer. Shipping registration relates to services associated with maritime vessels.

Charges are applied for all of these services. The fees you pay go towards recovering the cost of providing each of the services in question.

Our costs for providing marine services and ship registration are primarily labour related, with low capital costs, with charges set either at a fixed rate or at an hourly rate. The hourly rate for providing marine services is $272.

Our charges are supported by the Cost recovery impact statement (CRIS) certified in September 2015.

The charges are authorised by our Determination fixing charges of 2015 issued under Section 47(1) of the Australian Maritime Safety Authority Act 1990.

Unless otherwise stated, the charges for the above services are exempt from the goods and services tax (GST).
