STCW regulations explained

There are mandatory minimum requirements for your qualification under the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers 1978 (STCW).

We have responsibility for issuing maritime certifications for all crew members on Australian ships operating under the Navigation Act 2012. We also regulate the issue of certifications to standards meeting Australia’s obligations under STCW. A comprehensive list of all Regulations can be found in the publication by the International Maritime Organization, STCW Convention and STCW Code including 2010 Manila Amendments, 2011 edition.
