ISM Code certification guidelines for regulated Australian vessels

The guidelines describe how the International management code for the safe operation of ships and for pollution prevention (ISM code) is applied, the certification process and the responsibilities of AMSA personnel.
AMSA 422

This applies to all convention ships regardless of the date of construction:

  • All passenger ships, including passenger high-speed crafts;
  • All cargo ships, including cargo high-speed crafts, of 500 GRT or more;
  • Mobile offshore drilling units propelled by mechanical means of 500 GRT or more,
  • To any company owning, operating or managing such a ship or unit.
