Services and activities for domestic commercial vessels

From 1 July 2018 we will commence delivery of most services under the National System for Domestic Commercial Vessel Safety.

The move to a full national service delivery model will improve safety by making it easier for operators, crew, boat builders, architects, surveyors, marine safety officers and inspectors to maintain safe vessels and operating practices.

For owners, operators and crew of domestic commercial vessels this means that in addition to a single set of rules around the country, from 1 July 2018 people will pay the same fees for services no matter where they are around Australia. Some local waterway services will continue to be provided by state and territory marine safety agencies.

Overview of our services from 1 July 2018

Existing national system services will continue 

These services will continue to be delivered by us in the lead up to, and post 1 July 2018.

Access to services until 30 June 2018

Please continue to access services from your local marine safety agency. We will let you know when there are changes and when you need to take any action.

Transfer of services

We are continuing to work with state and territory marine safety agencies for a smooth transfer of services so you can continue to access the services you need, when you need them.
