- Mick Kinley – Chief Executive Officer
Appointed under Section 49 of the Australian Maritime Safety Authority Act 1990.
Mr Kinley became AMSA’s Chief Executive Officer on 27 August 2014. Mr Kinley was previously the Deputy Chief Executive Officer and held that position from October 2008.
Mr Kinley joined AMSA in Cairns as a Marine Surveyor in 1994. He has since gained experience across all of AMSA’s business areas with a focus on maritime safety and casualty response.
Prior to joining AMSA, Mr Kinley had an extensive career with BHP. He started as an engineer cadet with BHP Transport and sailed with the BHP fleet before serving in various shore-based roles, including fleet safety instructor and project engineer.
Mr Kinley holds an Australian Chief Engineer Class 1 Certificate, a Bachelor of Applied Science, a Bachelor of Engineering, and a Graduate Diploma in Legal Studies. Mr Kinley is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
- Lucinda McIntyre – Registrar of Ships
Appointed under Section 48(1) of the Shipping Registration Act 1981.
Lucinda McIntyre joined AMSA in June 2014 as Registrar of Ships, where she is responsible for managing the administration of ship registration in Australia.
Lucinda has held various public sector roles throughout her career and prior to joining AMSA, was responsible for the management of the registration system for electrical appliances under the Equipment Energy Efficiency Program.
Lucinda holds a Bachelor of Science.
- Paul Grant – Deputy Registrar of Ships
Appointed under Section 48(2) of the Shipping Registration Act 1981.
Paul became the Deputy Registrar of Ships in September 2019. Prior to joining AMSA Paul had practiced as a lawyer in private practice for over 11 years. Paul’s practice was a general practice and covered diverse areas of law appearing in courts in both criminal and civil jurisdictions, as well as undertaking work in property law, wills and estates and elder law amongst other areas of practice. Paul then moved to the public sector, working for the Australian Taxation Office in their review and dispute resolution section for over two years, before taking up his current position with AMSA.
Paul holds bachelor degrees in both Arts and Law.
