Use this form to apply for a skills assessment if you're a mariner or marine surveyor. You’ll need this assessment if you’re applying for a skilled occupation visa to live and work in Australia.

Eligibility criteria

To apply for a migration skills assessment, you must:

  • have a skilled maritime occupation
  • hold a valid and eligible STCW certificate of competency or Marine Surveyor qualification
  • meet sea service or professional experience requirements.

Submitting the form

To submit your application: 

  • complete AMSA form 12 - Application for migration skills assessment 
  • attach your certified documents
  • email your application to STCW.applications@amsa.gov.au

After we receive your application, we'll email you payment instructions. Check the application fee.
