Use this form to apply for a skills assessment if you're a mariner or marine surveyor. You’ll need this assessment if you’re applying for a skilled occupation visa to live and work in Australia.

Eligibility criteria
To apply for a migration skills assessment, you must:
- have a skilled maritime occupation
- hold a valid and eligible STCW certificate of competency or Marine Surveyor qualification
- meet sea service or professional experience requirements.
How to complete this form
You need to gather and certify your documents before applying.
You'll need:
- a valid passport
- certified copies of your certificates and training records
- sea service letters
- any additional supporting documents listed in the instructions.
Submitting the form
To submit your application:
- complete AMSA form 12 - Application for migration skills assessment
- attach your certified documents
- email your application to STCW.applications@amsa.gov.au
After we receive your application, we'll email you payment instructions. Check the application fee.
