AMSA is proud to sponsor the gala dinner to recognise the vital work of Mission to Seafarers (MTS) Newcastle chapter over the last 150 years.
As a worldwide charity, MTS stands alongside 1.6 million people in 260 ports around the world. The charity supports seafarers by connecting them with loved ones, providing medical including mental health support, welfare and chaplaincy services, and working with governments to improve conditions for seafarers .
AMSA works closely with organisations who champion seafarer welfare and align with our international obligations under maritime law. We are responsible for implementing international conventions from the International Maritime Organization and the International Labour Organization within Australian waters. We monitor conditions onboard vessels arriving in Australian ports and act against companies who breach their obligations to their crew.
