Immigration skills assessment for mariners
The Australian Government introduced reforms for skilled migration. The most recent update to the combined list of eligible skilled occupations occurred on 11 March 2019. The Department of Home Affairs has made changes to the lists of eligible skilled occupations.
As per the most recent update to the combined list of eligible skilled occupations in March 2019, AMSA is not the nominated Assessing Authority for Ship's Engineer ANZSCO code 231212 or Ship's Officer ANZSCO code 231214.
Referring to this combined list of eligible skilled occupations, except for Master unlimited (STCW Reg II/2), AMSA cannot assess immigration applications for holders of overseas STCW Engineer Officer and Deck Officer Certificates of competency.
Please direct your immigration applications for the above Certificates of Competency to the Department of Home Affairs.
It is your responsibility to find out if you are eligible for a visa. A successful immigration skills assessment by us is no guarantee that a visa will be issued by the Department of Home Affairs.
We cannot discuss the outcome of a visa application. This a matter between you and the Department of Home Affairs.
