The reception was hosted by HE The Hon Alexander Downer, High Commissioner for Australia to the United Kingdom, together with AMSA Chief Executive Officer Mr Mick Kinley and officials.

The large majority of IMO Member States were represented at the reception, with approximately 125 high-level officials in attendance.

Mr Sekimizu has been employed at the IMO since 1989, becoming Secretary-General in 2011. His strong leadership and willingness to address challenging issues have been highly commendable.

Mr Sekimizu leaves a strong legacy from his contribution as Secretary-General, and it has been AMSA's pleasure to have developed a close relationship with him during his time at the IMO. Mr Sekimizu last visited Australia in November 2014, when he delivered a keynote address at Maritime 14.

Mr Sekimizu will depart the IMO following approval of his successor, Mr Ki-Tak Lim, during the 29th session of IMO Assembly in November 2015. Australia looks forward to working with Mr Lim in the future.
