Search for overdue aircraft concludes

Monday 4 February 2013
The Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) has concluded the search for the missing pilot of an overdue ultralight aircraft around 24 kilometres north-west of Caboolture in Queensland.

This morning searchers found the wreckage of the aircraft and advised AMSA’s Rescue Coordination Centre (RCC Australia) that the solo pilot had not survived.

Yesterday morning AMSA was advised that a female solo pilot of an ultralight had failed to return from a flight and commenced a search.

Twelve helicopters, an AMSA fixed-wing Dornier aircraft and a police ground party were involved in the search.

AMSA thanks those individuals who assisted in the search.
