We speak with operators about coming to the aid of their communities when fires ripped through the Mallacoota township and surrounding areas over the New Year. We also feature Mallacoota abalone operators who are rebuilding their local industry after losing their factory and co-op in the fires and now face market pressures as a result of COVID-19.

Flora Warrior talks to Working Boats about her work to develop the seafood industry on Mabuiag Island in the Torres Strait, and Dennis Sten speaks about the Northern Territory Guided Fishing Association’s efforts to keep members abreast of regulatory change and local safety challenges.

Mark Raff also shares his journey towards becoming an ambassador for mental illness and reaching out to others, through his Gold Coast cruise operation.

We also hear about how Australian Tuna Fisheries in Port Lincoln manages the top five risks in their operation.

You can also find the latest COVID-19 advice for Australia’s domestic commercial vessel industry.
