Overview
We are seeking feedback on the proposed changes to Marine Order 25 (Equipment - lifesaving) 2014 which sets out the requirements for carrying and testing lifesaving equipment, how these requirements apply to different vessels and the recovery of persons from the water.
Marine Order 25 gives effect to Chapter III of the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) and the International Life-Saving Appliance (LSA) Code.
The proposed changes clarify the application and purpose of the Marine Order and update references to standards relevant to safety equipment required by SOLAS.
Who these changes apply to
- Domestic seafarer or crew
- Commercial fishers
- Beacon owners
- International crew and operators
- Industry bodies.
