If you have recently changed your name, you can apply to get it changed on your certificate of competency and receive a replacement.
If you hold a near coastal certificate of competency you must let AMSA know if you change your name.
You can then apply to have your name changed on your certificate.
Notify AMSA
To notify AMSA:
- email amsaconnect@amsa.gov.au
- attach a certificate or document attesting to the requested name change.
This can be a marriage certificate, change of name certificate issued by a state or territory authority, divorce certificate, or similar.
After we receive your email we will:
- update your name in myAMSA, our online application portal
- give you instructions for replacing your certificate.

After we have updated your name in myAMSA, you can apply to replace your certificate.
