Course Fees

The fees for approving and auditing AMSA approved courses may be found on Fact Sheet STCW 22 Schedule of Charges.

RTOs should contact AMSA for an estimate of the cost before making a submission. AMSA will not commence any work on the submission until payment is received. It should also be noted that AMSA reserves the right to request additional funds should the submission be complex and require extra work.

RTOs should refer to AMSA MT 04 - AMSA Approval – All STCW Courses including E-Learning, Distance Learning and Blended Learning, GMDSS ROC and Short Courses before making a submission.

RTOs are strongly encouraged to review the relevant International Maritime Organization Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (IMO STCW) model courses and align their submission with these, crossreferenced to the Transport and Logistics Industry Skills Council MAR (or successor) Training Package. This will assist with the AMSA approval process and reduce unnecessary costs and time delays to the training provider.

Payment methods should be either:

  1. by bank draft/cheque made payable to the Australian Maritime Safety Authority. Please write the Registered Training Organisation’s (RTO’s) name and reason for payment on the back of bank draft / cheque; or
  2. by credit card (VISA or Mastercard only). Please complete the Credit Card Payment Authorisation Form (AMSA 161) and write on the Form the details of the course(s) requiring approval.
