The 276th meeting of the Board was held on Thursday, 20 November 2025, in Canberra, ACT.
This Meeting
- The Board reviewed AMSAs October performance report. The budget position reflects ongoing variability for levies revenue and operational costs. Overall, AMSA remains within the limits of the approved operating loss.
- The Board approved the extension of a contract for the support and maintenance of the systems for national law certification and ship registration for domestic commercial vessels.
- The Board received an update regarding the performance of AMSA’s Aids to Navigation (AtoN) regional maintenance contracts.
- The Board received an update from the Chair of the People and Culture sub-committee and discussed the recent launch of the refreshed AMSA Values and behaviours, along with AMSA’s APS Census results.
- The Board received their standing report on Work Health and Safety at AMSA, which included the analysis of AMSA’s APS Census results in relation to the Autonomy, Define, Demands, Recognition, Exposure, Support and Strengths (ADDRESS) psychosocial model and the Respect@Work 7 standards.
- The Board received a presentation on AMSA’s stakeholder committees and engagement framework, which highlighted the importance of purposeful, inclusive, and transparent stakeholder collaboration to meet AMSA’s regulatory obligations.
- The Board received an update on the International Maritime Organization’s Marine Environment Protection Committee 2nd Extraordinary Session which considered the IMO Net-Zero Framework to reduce GHG emissions from shipping, and noted the adjournment of that Session, and discussions on the adoption of the Framework, for 12 months.
- The Board noted AMSA’s Enterprise Risk update and the significant changes that are proposed, which will see an increased focus on the effectiveness of controls.
Next Meeting
The Board will receive a virtual briefing from the AMSA CEO on 4 February 2026, with their next formal meeting to be held in Hobart on 4 March 2026.
