This exemption is for owners and accredited marine surveyors of domestic commercial vessels (DCVs) who need to be able to operate temporarily without having the required certificates.
We have released some safety guidance for commercial parasailing operators. Parasailing vessels are considered domestic commercial vessels under the National law.
This exemption allows DCV owners/operators a time extension for obtaining periodic surveys, or a new certificate of currency for equipment. It also allows them to operate without required compass adjustments, or while a liferaft is being serviced.
We are the Australian Government agency responsible for implementing the 1 January 2020 low sulphur fuel regulation as set out in the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships (MARPOL).
The purpose of this marine notice is to inform cruise vessel masters and operators of AMSA’s policy on limiting sulphur emissions from cruise vessels when at berth in the port of Sydney Harbour.
