Watchkeeper deck

This is an international qualification for Australian registered vessels operating in international waters.
This certificate allows you to perform the duties or functions of Watchkeeper deck officer on ships of any gross tonnage in any operating area.

Eligibility

To obtain a Watchkeeper deck certificate of competency you must meet the medical, sea service and course requirements listed below. The requirements depend on whether you are applying for an initial issue of a certificate of competency or you are applying to revalidate your existing certificate of competency.  

This certificate is issued under Marine Order 70 (Seafarer certification) 2014 and Marine Order 71 (Master and deck officers) 2014, made under the Navigation Act 2012.
