Replace your lost, stolen or damaged domestic certificate of competency

If you have lost your certificate of competency, or it has been damaged or stolen you can apply to get it replaced.

How to replace your certificate of competency

The documents you will need to replace your certificate of competency depend on the type of certificate you hold.

Prepare your documents

Medical fitness

To replace a Master <45m, Master <100m, MED 1, or Engineer Class 3 you must submit a Certificate of medical fitness.

If your previous Certificate of medical fitness has expired, download the Certificate of medical fitness for domestic seafarers (AMSA form 1850) and follow the instructions on the form.

For all other certificates, you will need to either:

  • declare that your medical fitness has not changed, or
  • provide a Certificate of medical fitness.

To replace any certificate you must submit a current 'Provide first aid' certificate (HLTAID011), or equivalent.
